Great news - as of 1st March 2023, meningitis vaccines are now fully funded for some patient groups -

• Babies and infants will get offered Bexsero at 3, 5 and 12 months of age along with their other routine immunisations.
• Children under 5 years of age can get Bexsero fully funded - three doses are required, a pair of injections 8 weeks apart and a booser 12 to 24 months later.
• Young adults aged 13 to 25 moving into university halls of residence or similar accommodation for the first time can get the Menactra ACWY vaccine funded.

Other young people are still advised to get vaccinated - although meningitis is much less common outside these groups, it is still a serious illness.

We routinely stock supplies of both ACWY vaccine and Bexsero for patients who may wish to fund the vaccine themselves:

Niminrix (ACWY)  $155 per dose  - suitable from age 6 weeks+

3 doses are required for 6weeks to 6 months of age; 2 doses are required from 6-12 months of age; 12 months + only one dose is needed.

Menactra (ACWY)   $166.50 per dose - suitable from age 9 months+

2 doses are required for children aged 9 to 23 months.  2 years to adult require only one dose.

Bexsero (Meningitis B) costs $175  per dose. 

Three doses are required.
